The course

The carefully crafted course and syllabus go way beyond the syllabus prescribed by Yoga Alliance. The course will be given in Cast Away, a unique and serene location on top of 2 pebble beaches with wonderful views on the Adriatic and the many surrounding islands.

Daily Schedule

* 06:00 to 07:00 Meditation Walk

* 07:15 to 09:15 Morning Practice Session

* 09:30 to 10:15 Breakfast

* 10:30 to 12:30 Theory Class

* 12:45 to 13:45 Lunch

* 14:00 to 16:00 Break

* 16:00 to 18:00 Afternoon Practice Session

* 18:30 to 19:30 Satsang (soulful mantra chanting)

* 19:30 to 20:30 Dinner

* 20:30 to 21:30 Self-study/Sharing

* 21:30 to 22:00 Meditation/prayer

* 22:00 Lights off

Please note:

* The venue is a very remote and serene location on the island of Hvar in the middle of nowhere with very basic infrastructure, providing us an ancient “ashram like” ambiance… the way the sages / yogis once lived!
* The food will be satvik (pure vegetarian), served three times a day. Drinking, smoking etc is strictly prohibited.
* Saturdays will be your day off.
* Two 11:00 to 13:00 sessions will be used for mid-session and final written tests.
* Day 11, and Day 20 will be used for mid-session / final practicum tests.
* On day 21, the hours from 16:00 to 19:00 will be devoted to Dikshant (certification) ceremony.
* From Day 12 to 20, one hour of theory session will be devoted to self-study.
* Each participant would be handed over a post TTC individual roadmap.
* Participants wanting a spiritual name as per their astrological chart would need to provide their place, date and exact time of birth.
* Participants are requested to bring their own yoga mat and writing material.

The Course Syllabus

Yoga Alliance registered Yoga Teachers Training Course (RYT200)

Pushkar Mediation Temple’s Yoga + Meditation Teacher Training Course is aimed at transforming an individual into a yogi who knows the very purpose of life, is ever happy and content. She/he is like a lit candle that spreads the light by shared presence!

The Course covers:

a) Techniques, Training and Practice: 120 hours

Topics in this category include:

* Yama, Naiyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi, Mudra, Bandha, Kriya (shatkarma), Mantra, Meditation and other ancient and modern yoga practices and techniques.
* These hours are divided between guided practice of the techniques and analytical training in how to teach the practice with correct techniques. Both areas receive equal emphasis.

b) Teaching Methodology: 30 hours

Topics in this category include:

* Communication skills such as gauging the audience ability, group dynamics, time management, and the establishment of priorities and boundaries.
* How to address the specific needs of individuals and special populations, to the degree possible in a group setting.
* Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting.
* Teaching styles.
* Qualities of a teacher.
* The student learning process.
* Business aspects of teaching yoga (including marketing and legal).

c) Anatomy and Physiology: 20 hours

Topics in this category include:

* The psychic physiology of yoga with three bodies and five sheaths.
* Five kinds of breath and five kind of breathing.
Gunas (sat, raj and tam) and vikaras (Kapha, pitta and vata).
Kundalini, chakras, nadis – sushumna, ida and pingala.
* Difference between human physical anatomy/physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy/ psychic physiology (kundalini, chakras, nadis, etc.).
* Pranic/psychic healing techniques.

d) Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers: 30 hours

Topics in this category include:

* The study of yoga philosophies and traditional texts (such as the Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Bhagavad Gita, Yogopanishada and other scriptures).
* Yogic lifestyle, with observance of Yama and Niyama (non-violence or ahimsa etc).
* Understanding of four purusharthas (endeavors) (dharma, artha, kama, moksha).
* Imbibing the shat-sampatis (six qualification for becoming a qualified seeker (mumukshu).
* Ethics for yoga teachers, such as those involving teacher – student relationships and community.
* Understanding the value of teaching yoga as a service and being of service to others (seva).

A minimum of 2 hours would be spent on ethics for yoga teachers.

e) Practicum: 10 hours

Topics in this category include:

* Minimum of 5 hours of actual practice teaching as the lead instructor, assisting, observing or giving feedback.
* Receiving and giving feedback.
* Observing others teaching.
* Assisting students while someone else is teaching.
